About the Real 1963 Chevy II

The Chevrolet Chevy II was introduced in 1962 as Chevrolet’s answer to the Ford Falcon — a simple, back-to-basics compact that could be built quickly and sold affordably. The 1963 model year brought the debut of the Nova Super Sport package (RPO Z03), available on the Nova 400 Sport Coupe and convertible. For just $161.40, buyers got SS emblems, finned wheel covers, wider body-side moldings, an aluminized rear panel, bucket seats and a floor-mounted shifter. Over 44,000 Nova SS coupes and convertibles were produced in 1963.

Available engines for 1963 included a 153 cu in inline-four and a 194 cu in straight-six, though the lightweight unibody construction and readily available V8 swap potential made the Chevy II an instant favourite on the drag strip. The Chevy II nameplate was retired after 1968, with all subsequent models becoming simply the Chevrolet Nova — a name that would go on to define the muscle-car era. Casting History

The ’63 Chevy II casting debuted as a New Model in 2016 and has since appeared in multiple mainline and premium series including Muscle Mania, HW Flames and Retro Style. The casting faithfully reproduces the first-generation Chevy II’s boxy, compact proportions and has become a staple for collectors of classic American compacts. The back of the 2016 card reads: “Two-door hardtop that was a precursor to the Nova. The combination of readily available V8-power and a lightweight body made it a drag race favorite.”

About the Compact Kings Series

The Compact Kings mini collection celebrates small cars that punched well above their weight — whether on the street, the strip or the showroom floor. The ’63 Chevy II fits this series perfectly: a compact economy car that could be transformed into a genuine muscle machine with little more than a V8 swap and a set of slicks.
